Meet Legislative Fellow Romy Fischer

 

Romy Fischer from Asuncion Paraguay is a Legislative Fellow through Partners of the Americas. In Asuncion she studied at the Goethe High School and studied law at the National University. She also has a Masters Degree in criminal law from Barcelona University and Pompeu Fabra University. Romy comes from a family of lawyers and public notaries. She has worked as a clerk in the Paraguayan Supreme Court.  In Paraguay Romy currently works as a legal advisor and project manager in a not for profit civil society organization which aims to help improve the quality of Paraguayan democracy, promoting government accountability and citizen participation. She is also a teaching assistant in criminal law at the Catholic University of Asuncion.

In Kansas Romy is working with the city of Newton, Kansas. She is involved with project such as the Homeless Shelter, the Kansas Logistics Park Project and Regional Economic Area Partnership (REAP). She is also working with the City Attorney’ s Office to understand country/state/community legal and legislative systems.
