Jeremy Starr and Susan Mayo

With assistance from Partners of the Americas Jeremy Starr (violin) and Susan Mayo (cello) from Emporia State University had a great trip to Paraguay to conduct master classes in violin and cello.  Mr. Cello went along and was paged in the Brazilian airport.  They also performed at the September Quarterly Meeting of Kansas Paraguay Partners.  You can see a short clip of one of their performances by clicking on the youtube link below.

Study Abroad Scholarship

At the Kansas Paraguay Partners quarterly meeting this weekend the Board approved an increase in our Study Abroad scholarship from $1,200 to $1,500.  This is the scholarship for a Kansan to study in Paraguay.  To learn more go to the top of this page and click on the Study Abroad Scholarship tab.   There is also information about intern and volunteer possibilities.

  • Meeting with Ambassador Rigoberto Gauto and Secondary Kuni Hashimoto.
  • Correspondence with Paraguayan Minister of Tourism, Liz Cramer, regarding travel to Kansas to discuss tourism and to visit several tourist locations in Kansas.

  1.  Receive a presentation from Board Member Miguel Gonzalez-Abellas of his recent

trip to Paraguay.

  1.  Review the new travel guide to Paraguay by Romy Nathalia Goldberg.

  3. Discuss a suggestion from Steve Vetter, President,CEO of Partners of the Americas that a “case study” or journal article be prepared concerning the history of the  Paraguay/Kansas student exchange program and the in-state tuition program for Paraguayan students attending Kansas universities.
  4. Discuss a proposal to create a framework to recognize individuals for significant annual and lifetime efforts to KPP.
