Quarterly Meeting in Hays, September 2010

Fort Hays State University President Ed Hammond welcomed us to the Sternberg Museum and Research facility.

For the first time since KPP has been participating in the Youth Ambassadors program, the YA’s were able to attend a KPP meeting.  The six high school students are being hosted by Goodland High School with local arrangements made by longtime KPP member, Mary Porterfield.

Below are some photos of the students and their mentor, Martín Burgos.  They  attended the meeting and gave a marvelous informational and musical presentation.  After the meeting and luncheon, Avi Kempinski,  FHSU chair of the Modern Languages department took the Paraguayan visitors on a tour of Hays and the campus.

The students will be staying in Goodland for two weeks and will spend one weekend visiting the Denver area.  They also spent one week in Washington, D.C.

One of the items on the agenda in Hays was the proposal that KPP purchase three works of art from the Paraguayan Art Exhibition in Newton and donate them to Art Museums in Kansas.  Rh
